Getting to Know God (God the Father)

I'm sorry this post is a little long overdue. Last post we spoke about forming a true relationship with God and not just carring out religious rules. However,  we all know it's hard to form a relationship with someone you don't know. So who is God?  To really  answer to this question and gain a real understanding we first must know that God comes in three parts. God the father, God the son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit.   1John 5:7 kjv For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. We are going to break this up over the next three post as to not overload and overlook any important points.

God the Father. This is the part of God we initially think about when hear the name "God". Most times God can be seen as a mysterious figure that we only pray to when we need something. However, God is so much more than that he is the  creator of this universe. He is our creator and that is the reason we call him father because he created us in his likeness. Genesis 1: 27 kjv So God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created them, male and female he created them. This verse repeats that you were crafted in the image of God several times because it wants you to really understand that. You were designed to look like God himself,  so if you ever want to know what God looks like then look in the mirror. God formed you in his perfect will with no mistakes. Everything about you is perfect in God's eyes. Psalms 139.14.kjv I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." You were no mistake, every feature you have was designed special by God.

God is described throughout the Bible as being timeless, as being a God that was bigger than time and space.  A God that is never changing,  he is always the same. God is infinite.  He knows your past and your future . He knows what you did eight minutes ago and what you will be doing eight  minutes from now. God is everlasting he is the same God that appeared in the burning bush to Moses and is the same God who appears in your life today.

Revelation 1:8 - “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was, and who is to come. The Almighty.” God is also described by these three words omniscient, omnipotent,
omnipresent. Omniscient means to have complete or all knowledge,  to be aware and understand all things. This Goes back to when I said God already knows you , already knows who you are and what you do. God knows all there is to know about you and about this world. Omniscient:
Proverbs 15:3 - “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.”
Psalm 33:13 - “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth…”
1 Chronicles 28:9 - “…for the Lord searches every heart, and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, we will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”

God is omnipotent meaning that he is great having ultimate or all the power. All power belongs to God. God has the power to stop and start anything he chooses. He has the power to take life but to also give it. He has the power to heal but also to destroy there is nothing God can not do, nothing that he can not fix. Omnipotent:
Genesis 17:1 - “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am God Almighty’...”
Jeremiah 32:17 - “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”
Matthew 19:26 - “Jesus looked at them and said. ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’'
Lastly,  God is omnipresent meaning to be present everywhere at the same time. Remember that God is timeless,  he was here before the beginning and will be here after the end. God is not held to the same time line as men, after all why should he, he created it. Omnipresent:
Joshua 1:5 - “No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
1 Chronicles 16:34 - “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures forever.”
Psalm 33:11 - “The plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”
Hebrews 13:5 - “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have. Because God said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”
The most important thing you can learn about God is not just about how powerful he is but how he sees you.  God loves you and sees you as his child. So much so that he couldn't bare the fact that you were covered in sin and seprate from him. So he sent his son to die for you. That's why Jesus died for us because wherever sin is present God cannot dwell because he is holy and perfect in all his ways. When Jesus died for us he paid the price for our sins thus cleaning us with his blood and giving us the freedom to dwell with God again. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Galatians 3:26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Forming a relationship with God is the best thing we could ever do for ourselves. God is so beautiful and so loving inspite of all the wrong we do. He even says in his word that he only wants the best for us. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Choosing God means choosing a better life,  I'm not saying there won't be hardships or bad days, but think about it . Think about how far you've gotten in life alone, now think about how much farther you will go with  God. All powerful,  all knowing God. I really want to be sure everyone understands this first part before we move on. So of you have any questions feel free to leave a comment,  I will do my best to answer them or find somebody who can. Until then Love , peace , and joy family. May God bless you  and keep you wherever you go!
